Dupont ANC Hosts MPD To Discuss Crime

On Wednesday, June 20, the Dupont Circle ANC will host a community meeting to discuss crime in our neighborhood. The Police will be there to discuss initiatives that may be helpful to reporting and preventing criminal activities such as crimes of opportunity. This is an opportunity to have your voices heard on concerns, issues, and ideas from neighborhood crime to pedestrian and bicycle safety — and for you to help inform and guide the city’s public safety agenda.  Plan to attend this important community discussion from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Jewish Community Center at the corner of 16th and Q Streets NW.

U Street Streetscape Starts NOW

After waiting many years, the U Street Streetscape will begin next week.  It will start at 9th Street and continue to 14th Street.  At last month's U Street Neighborhood Association meeting DDOT officials presented drawings that detailed the improvements.  The project will resurface the street and widen sidewalks in the 1300 block of U Street at the location of Desperadoes Restaurant where passage by pedestrians is very narrow.  Transportation officials say the road will be reconstructed one block at a time. At least one lane of traffic will be kept open in each direction during construction. But curbside parking will be restricted.
