The Annual Mid-City Artists Open Studios are taking place during this beautiful Spring weekend, giving everyone a chance to visit some of our local artist studios. And for those of you who don't know, the studios are located in the Uptown Arts Overlay District...so enjoy!

Inaugural Funk Parade Kicks Off

The inaugural Funk Parade kicks off an eventful weekend in the neighborhood. Pictured here is the Batala Percussion Band that kicked off the parade and entertained us at the Reeves Center earlier in the day. In addition, Cinco de Mayo celebrations are planned by several venues. Enjoy our neighborhood!

Logan Hardware Plans Expansion and Move

Logan Hardware is moving to 1734 and 1736 14th Street. They want to be between the new Trader Joe's and Whole Foods, serving more new residents in our neighborhood. They plan to spend more than $400K to customize the 10,000 sq ft space to suit their need to expand in order to provide more services.

Portner Place Plans Announced

Below is a concept drawing of the proposed project to replace the Portner Place apts located next to the Reeves Center on U Street. HPRB will consider the plans at its March 27 meeting. Affected residents and civic organizations are invited to testify on the concept plans for the project.

Trader Joe's Opening Soon

Trader Joe's will be opening on March 21...get ready to shop for your favorite Trader Joe's items.

The Harper is now Complete

The Harper at 14th and Wallach has been completed and is now ready for renters who will receive an incentive of a month's free rent. Retail tenants have also opened their doors for business...Universal Gear and an optician. Contact the rental agent for a tour and tell your friends who are looking for an apartment in our neighborhood!

Lupo Verde Now OPEN

Chef Med Lahlou has opened his newest eatery...LUPO VERDE at the corner of 14th and T. Welcome this new place where you can enjoy some rustic Southern Italian cuisine. The food is great! He also owns and operates Ulah Bistro on U Street.

Reeves Center Plans Revealed on Dec. 17

Reeves Center Plans Revealed Dec. 17 The head of the DC Dept. of General Services has revealed the proposal for the swap of properties that includes the Reeves Center in order to facilitate the building of a new soccer stadium. Residents and businesses weighed in Tuesday night to advocate for an office building rather than the proposed residential building. CM Graham expressed his support for an office building that would include the Post Office and the DC Center. Tico is Coming to the Louis

The JBG Companies announced recently that Tico Restaurant from Boston and celebrity Chef Michael Schlow will open in the new LOUIS at 14th and U. Many of us remember the El Paraiso Restaurant owned by Carlos Baruca. In addition, a Wells Fargo branch will open there. And as we have already learned, the Wydown coffee shop that recently opened on U will move into their new location at the LOUIS. Last but most importantly to local residents, DC Noodles and the Utopia Bar and Grill will reopen at their U Street locations.
